MOVING FEARLESSLY FORWARD: IMPLEMENTING OUR STRATEGIC PLAN Creating the plan: Fearlessly Forward emerged from widespread Terp engagement. Campus leaders engaged seven diverse committees of students, faculty, staff, community partners and alumni in imagining our future. Leadership held two open forums, and considered fearless ideas and priorities with the University Senate, Board of Trustees, divisional leadership teams, President's Commissions, and student leaders. Launching the plan: Launched in February, 2022 with four strategic commitments, Fearlessly Forward is a central and guiding force for all colleges and divisions. Implementing the plan: Implementation of Fearlessly Forward has several key components seen in Figure I. Each Summer, campus leadership engages in a consultative process to set priorities and identify needed infrastructure in order to realize priorities. The Provost's Office works closely with each division and engages our students, faculty, and staff in identifying priorities, launching initiatives and evaluating progress. In addition, we engage our UMD community through: The development of metrics and data to assess progress Annual reports from initiatives, colleges, and divisions Presentations and engagement with the University Senate, Board of Trustees, and other stakeholders Figure I: Implementation of Fearlessly Forward Assessing our progress: Tracking progress through global, strategic commitment, and initiative metrics Annual reports Presentations to key university constituents (e.g. students, faculty, staff, community) Community Input and Engagement 2022-2023 Implementation Committees Peer review of fearless ideas Student, faculty, and staff surveys Workgroups and taskforces to launch and steer key initiatives Annual Priority Setting and Initiatives: President's cabinet retreat Annual college planning meetings Senate leadership Provost's student advisory committees Academic Planning Advisory Committee (APAC) Signature initiatives College and Division programs and activities Investing in Needed Infrastructure and Support Personnel Communications Coordination Resources
